Respond

Well my loves, summer is over.

The carefree days of flow have once again come to an end as we embrace this new chapter of commitments, structure, color coded calendars, school events, important dates, alarm clocks at 5 am, and more intentional focus on each precious hour of the day.

With my heart full of memories, I embrace this new season.

It’s been 17 months since the boys were in school so this is a big shift for all of us.

Earlier mornings.

Earlier bedtimes.

Carpool.

All the things.

This is familiar to me, I’ve been here before as life continues to ebb and flow.

So I’ve been reflecting on how I can continue my self-care in this seemingly disruptive new routine.

This inquiry began as I noticed I was running around like a “chicken with its head cut off” and I knew I needed to SLOW DOWN.

It’s especially important to dial into my self-care practices once again!

I am looking at my priorities — how do I feel and what do I need?

I am acknowledging that I am doing the best I can right now.

Although I may need to shift my expectations or patterns of my daily routine, I know that the structures I put in place for myself (through self-care) will support my shift.

Life is always moving and it is the ability to respond versus react that keeps me grounded.
